TikTok states three shapes and a floor under each
The help page states vertical nine by sixteen at 540x960 or more, horizontal sixteen by nine at 960x540 or more and square one by one at 640x640 or more. It is the only page in this register that publishes a shape and a pixel floor in the same sentence. As of 2026-09-12.
| Shape | Minimum dimensions | How many generators here publish this shape |
|---|---|---|
| 9:16 vertical | 540x960 | Five of the nine that publish shapes at all |
| 16:9 horizontal | 960x540 | All nine |
| 1:1 square | 640x640 | Three |
Inclusion rule. Shapes and minimum dimensions stated on the platform's own specifications page for non-Spark ads, counted against the generator rows in this register that publish a shape. Order. As the help page lists the shapes.
1The floors are easy and the shapes are not
540 by 960 is below the cheapest resolution rung on almost every row in this register, so the pixel minimums are cleared without thought. The shapes are the binding half: six entries publish nothing about output shape, and for those the check cannot be made at all.
A spec sheet that lists a shape and a minimum size together invites reading them as equally hard gates. They are not. One is satisfied by the cheapest tier available and the other decides whether a piece can be generated for the placement in the first place.
2Square is the shape most generators here do not publish
Three of the fifteen entries in this register publish a one by one option. Square is accepted by this surface from 640x640 upward, so a campaign that wants it has a narrow set of rows to generate from and a wide set to crop from.
Cropping to square from widescreen loses a third of the frame horizontally, which moves a subject that was composed off-centre outside the picture. That is the cost this column exists to make visible, and it is why the register counts shapes rather than assuming them.
3Shape and file are published together here, and never on the other surface
The same page carries a 500 MB cap, a 516 kbps bitrate floor and a list of five containers. The other surface in this register publishes durations and billing behaviour and nothing about the file at all.
That split is the clearest structural finding on these sheets. Each surface documents what it refuses at the door, and the two doors are guarded against different things, so a single ad specification covering both has to be assembled from two pages that barely overlap.
4Where this cell sits in the column
| Surface | Aspect ratio |
|---|---|
| TikTok | 9:16, 16:9 and 1:1, each with a pixel floor |
| YouTube | 16:9, stated for the Masthead alone |
Inclusion rule. The two surfaces this register reads, carrying what each one's own help page states in this column. Generator limits are on a separate axis and are never folded in. Order. Alphabetical by surface name.
