MiniMax splits its resolutions between two models
The reference publishes 768P and 2K for MiniMax-H3, and 480P and 768P for H3-Max where 2K is not supported. Neither ladder contains the other, so the vendor's resolution offer depends entirely on which model a request names. As of 2026-09-22.
| Model | Resolutions | What the other model has that this one lacks |
|---|---|---|
| MiniMax-H3 | 768P and 2K | 480P |
| MiniMax-H3-Max | 480P and 768P | 2K |
| Both | 768P | Nothing; this is the shared rung |
Inclusion rule. Models this API reference documents, with the resolution values the same page states for each. A resolution available on an earlier generation is not recorded. Order. As the reference orders the models.
1Two ladders that cross rather than nest
Usually a vendor's cheaper model is a subset of the dearer one and a plan can be made against the union. Not here. One model reaches 2K and has no cheap rung; the other has the cheap rung and cannot reach 2K. The only resolution available whatever happens is the middle one.
So 768P is the value a campaign can actually be specified in. Anything above or below it pins the request to one model, and that model brings its own duration floor along with it.
2The name suggests an ordering the figures do not support
A suffix like Max implies more of everything. On this page it means a higher duration floor and a missing top resolution: five seconds instead of four, 480P instead of 2K. The model names are not a ranking of the columns this register reads.
This is the clearest argument on these sheets for reading one column at a time. A summary of the vendor would have to pick which axis the name refers to, and the page gives no basis for choosing.
3What a shape requirement does to the choice
The same reference states six aspect ratios, required rather than adaptive for text-to-video, and applies them to both models. So shape is the one axis where the model choice does not matter, and resolution and duration are the two where it decides everything.
For a vertical placement at the cheapest available tier that resolves to one model and a five second floor. For the same placement at 2K it resolves to the other model and a four second floor, and the ratio parameter has to be supplied either way.
