CogVideoX publishes eight frames a second
The model card states eight frames per second, which is the lowest figure in this column by a factor of three. Read with the forty-nine frame length on the same card, it explains why the published duration is six seconds rather than two. As of 2026-09-22.
| Field | Value | What follows from it |
|---|---|---|
| Frame rate | 8 frames per second | Motion is sampled coarsely |
| Frames | 49 | The underlying quantity the model produces |
| Video length | 6 seconds | Forty-nine frames divided by eight |
Inclusion rule. Fields the model card prints in its specification table. A rate achievable by interpolating frames afterwards is a post-process and is not recorded as output. Order. The rate first, then the two figures it explains.
1Eight frames a second is a different kind of picture
At eight frames a second a pan steps rather than sweeps and a hand gesture arrives in three positions. The figure is not a quality tier that can be bought up from; it is what the released model produces.
No ad platform this register reads states a minimum rate, so nothing rejects such a file on upload. The constraint lands entirely on whether the piece reads as finished work beside the filmed material it will play next to.
2The rate explains the length, which is the useful reading
Forty-nine frames at eight a second is a little over six seconds, and the card rounds down. So the six second figure in the duration column is derived from a frame budget rather than chosen as a product decision.
That reframes the row. A six second ceiling looks restrictive beside a thirty second one; a forty-nine frame budget looks like a research artefact, which is what the page is. The three cells only make sense together.
3Interpolation is a separate step and a separate cost
Raising a rate afterwards is possible and is not what the card publishes. It adds a processing stage, introduces its own artefacts on fast motion, and moves the deliverable away from the thing this register recorded.
The sheets stay on the published figure for that reason. What a pipeline can achieve with extra steps is unbounded and unverifiable; what the page states is one number, and the number is eight.
