Ad placement specs against what generators output

The format that inherits its limits from an organic post

TikTok Spark Ads state no duration restriction and accept .mp4 or .mov. Non-Spark placements document up to 10 minutes, 500 MB or less, and a bitrate of 516 kbps or more. The difference is where the file entered the platform. As of 2026-09-12.

Two paths onto the same feed, with two sets of checksAn ad uploaded as an ad is validated by the ad product. A promoted organic post was validated when it was posted, so the ad product has less to state. The file requirements are the same in both cases; the duration statement is not.Uploaded as an adAd product checksDuration, file, bitrateUp to 10 minutes statedPromoted organic postOrganic upload checksFile and format onlyNo duration restriction statedThe same feed, the same viewerWhere the file was validated decides what the ad product says

Inclusion rule. Requirements are recorded per ad product as the platform documents them. Where a product states no restriction on an axis, that is recorded as stated-none rather than as unlimited. Order. The product with fewer stated restrictions first.

1Promoting a post is not uploading an ad

A Spark Ad puts spend behind something already on the platform. The organic upload path validated the file, so the ad product has less to check and says less. That is not a looser standard so much as a check that already happened.

Which means the planning question changes shape: instead of designing to an ad spec, the work is designing to whatever the organic pipeline accepts and then deciding what to promote.

2Stated-none is not the same as unlimited

An ad product that publishes no duration line has not promised that any length will run. It has declined to add a restriction of its own on top of the one the upload path already applied. Recording that as unlimited would create a fact the documentation does not carry.

This sheet keeps the distinction in the wording of the cell, because the two readings lead to different production decisions and only one of them is supported.

3What a generator has to clear either way

The file requirements do not soften: a container the platform accepts, a bitrate above the stated floor, and a size under the stated cap. Generated footage tends to clear all three comfortably at short lengths and to approach the size cap only when resolution and duration are both pushed.

Those numbers sit on this site's file-limits page, which is where the three axes get read together rather than one at a time.

4Making the ad itself

For ad work around “Spark Ads”, SceneMixer's pages explain how its ad projects are produced:

The longest an episode may run: 240 seconds for Short Drama, 300 for TV Series, none for Film.

On the end card, yes, along with the product name, the tagline and the call to action, in the language of the ad.
