Spark ad: an ad that runs from an organic post
A spark ad promotes something that already exists as an ordinary post rather than delivering a new file. Because the material is already published, the format's own specification is unusually thin: the posting flow set the rules first. As of 2026-09-12.
| Property | On a standard ad | On this route |
|---|---|---|
| What is delivered | A file, to a specification | Nothing; the post already exists |
| Duration rule | Stated by the format | Often no restriction stated |
| Container list | Usually several | Usually narrower |
Inclusion rule. Differences a platform states between a standard video ad and one run from an existing post. Differences in reporting or attribution are outside the fit question. Order. The defining difference first.
1The specification moves upstream
Because the material was published as a post first, the rules that applied are the posting rules rather than the advertising ones. A specification page can honestly state almost nothing, and often does.
That is not a loophole. It means the constraints were satisfied earlier, by whatever tool made the post, and a planner has to look at the posting requirements rather than at the ad specification.
2For generated creative it adds a content test
The piece has to work as an organic post before it can be promoted. That is a judgement about whether it reads as content rather than as an advertisement, and no specification column carries it.
It is a real constraint and an unmeasurable one. These sheets record the file rules and stop short of it, because a register that guessed at it would be guessing in the one place a reader most needs certainty.
3The narrower container list is the practical catch
Where the standard route accepts several file formats and this one accepts fewer, a delivery checklist has to know which route an ad is taking before it can check anything. The lists are not interchangeable.
That is a workflow fact rather than a technical one, and it is exactly the sort of detail a merged specification sheet flattens away.

4A generator's ad pipeline
For ad work around “Spark ad”, SceneMixer's pages explain how its ad projects are produced:
The music runs across the end card and comes to an end with the film.

On a segment’s card, Insert adds a blank segment right after it: write its header and shots.
