Ad placement specs against what generators output

What an empty cell on these sheets means

An empty cell here records that a page did not address a question. It does not record that the answer is no, and it does not record that the answer is generous. Three different silences get the same mark, and telling them apart is the reader's job. As of 2026-09-12.

Three silences, three next stepsAn omission leaves a question for the vendor, a refusal closes the question, and a unit mismatch leaves arithmetic plus a rule the arithmetic destroys. Why is this cell emptyNever raisedAsk the vendorThe answer probably exists; theschedule has to hold a gap open.Stated as unsupportedPlan around itNothing to ask and nothing to buy.The cheapest kind of silence.Answered in another unitConvert, carefullyAnd keep whichever rule theconversion would have thrown away.A gap is a statement about a page, not about a product

Three reasons a cell is empty, and what each one means for a plan. Recorded 2026-09-12.

Inclusion rule. Kinds of silence a specification page can produce. A value present on a different page from the same vendor is a separate reading with its own date, not a filled cell here. Order. Most common kind first.

1Why a gap is not filled from somewhere else

Figures circulate. A duration quoted in a launch post, a resolution in a reseller listing, a shape demonstrated in a video: any of those could be dropped into a cell and it would look identical to a figure read off a vendor's own page.

Once that happens the check date beside every other cell stops meaning anything, because a reader has no way to tell which figures were read and which were inherited. The empty cell is the price of the rest of the table being worth something.

2A refusal is the most useful silence

Where a page says an option is unsupported, a plan is finished with the question. There is nothing to ask and nothing to buy, and the constraint can be designed around immediately.

An omission is the expensive one. It usually means the answer exists and is somewhere else, so the work is a conversation rather than a decision, and the schedule has to hold a gap open while it happens.

3Silence on one axis is not evidence about another

A page can be precise about size and silent about shape, or precise about both and silent about how long the output stays fetchable. Nothing about the filled columns predicts the empty ones.

That is why these sheets keep every column separate and mark each one on its own. A summary score would have to average a published figure with an absence, which is arithmetic on two different kinds of thing.

A craft note, not a spec. Nothing here is taken from a platform or a vendor, and nothing here should be quoted as a requirement. The sourced material is on published limits. Related: Rate cards and references, Rounding up a call count.

4Making the ad itself

For ad work around “What not stated means”, SceneMixer's pages explain how its ad projects are produced:

A dish photo is cleaned into a product shot and the ad is built around it.

The script is written from the photos and the one-line description. In step-by-step mode you can rewrite it before anything is shot.
